You can do some really nice things on your own Facebook Wall as well as on that of your friend’s. You can type in plain old text as status updates or you can share photos, videos and ask questions to your friends or your friend’s friends.
When you post a video onto your own Facebook Wall, your friends may see the video on their “home page” as “Top News” or “Most Recent” news. If you want them to see your video on their wall then you will need to post the video to their wall (and not yours).
Posting Video To Your Friend’s Facebook Profile Account’s Wall
There are a few ways you can post videos to your friend’s Facebook Wall and I will cover all of these.
A – If you have the web address or URL to the YouTube, Viddler or Vimeo video (and it works just as well if the link is to your self-hosted video), you can follow the instructions below
1 – Copy the link to that video by pressing Control and C at the same time
2 – Go to your friend’s Facebook Wall
3 – Click on “Link” and paste the link to the video by pressing control and V at the same time
4 – Press Attach to link to the video
After you have pasted the link to the video you can add in some comments too. You type in your comment at the “Say something about this link section” and hit “Share”.
B – Another way to post to your friend’s wall is to post the video to your own wall and at the “Say something about this link section” add in a tag to your friend.
This way the video will show up on both your walls. You tag your friend to this video by typing the “@” sign followed by the Facebook name of your friend.
So what you would do is this, you paste the link to the video on your wall and at the comment section add in @ followed by your friend’s name (@name). This will post the video to both your walls.
C – If you have the video clip file, you can upload the pre-recorded video to your friend’s wall by clicking on the Video Link while at his wall. Choose “Upload Video” and click on “Choose File” to locate the video file you want to upload. Again you can say something about this video at the comment section.
Facebook will upload and render the video, When this is processed and ready the video will appear on your friend’s wall
D – You can record a brand new video and upload it to his wall. You do this by going to your friend’s wall and clicking on “Video Link” and choosing “Record A Video”.
That’s it. It’s as simple as ABC.
Now just for completeness sake, I need to add that technically speaking the above refer to posting to your friend’s Facebook Personal Account’s Wall and not to his Facebook Fan Page.
It is unfortunate that some refer to Facebook Profile Account as a Facebook Page. And because of this confusion I have included instructions for posting to both a personal account as well as a Facebook Fan Page.
To post a video to your friend’s Facebook Page you could follow the same steps above but you will need to first “Like” that page.
Apart from not being able to tag your friend’s Facebook Page to your video, you can use the above steps to post a video to your friend’s Facebook Fan Page.
